Guided Therapy Co. Branding

Guided Therapy Co. (GTC) is a Brooklyn, New York–based company founded by licensed mental health counselor Gisella Tavarez. GTC is a modern therapy practice built around connection, compassion, and meaningful growth. More than a private practice, it was designed as the foundation for a future collective of therapists, educators, advocates, and resources working together to make high-quality mental health care more accessible and deeply human. Many therapy brands continue to feel cold, clinical, or disconnected from the people they serve. GTC was created to challenge that reality and inspire a new dawn for a new day in mental health care.
Overview
Before Gisella approached Boundless, she was already making an impact across multiple roles as a clinician, educator, mentor, and mother. But like many visionary founders, she saw an opportunity to create something larger than herself. Something capable of extending beyond one practitioner and one location. Something built to scale. The challenge wasn't simply launching a new therapy practice. It was creating a brand capable of carrying a much bigger vision.
You see, GTC entered the market at a pivotal moment. The mental health industry has experienced significant growth and shifts in recent years, but much of the visual landscape has become increasingly homogenous. Clinical organizations often lean into institutional healthcare aesthetics. Wellness-focused competitors frequently default to soft earth tones and familiar self-care imagery.
The result is a sea of brands that feel interchangeable. Combine that with the rise of therapeutic AI platforms, and Gisella knew GTC needed to stand apart from all the rest.
GTC required a visual identity that could establish trust while remaining approachable. It needed to communicate expertise without feeling corporate, sophistication without exclusivity, and warmth without sacrificing credibility. Most importantly, it needed to reflect the organization's core belief that healing is not one-size-fits-all. The opportunity was clear: build a brand that felt as thoughtful, intentional, and human as the care itself. As Gisella put it: "Why not now?"

Guiding Opportunity
Every Boundless project begins with listening. Through discovery, competitor analysis, strategic discussions, and collaborative exploration, I worked closely with Gisella to understand not only what GTC was building, but what it needed to become. Together, we examined the visual landscape of modern therapy brands and identified opportunities to create meaningful differentiation within the category.
One insight emerged quickly. Many competing organizations were communicating professionalism at the expense of humanity, or humanity at the expense of professionalism. Few successfully balanced both. GTC had an opportunity to occupy a unique position between those extremes, offering an experience that felt elevated, trustworthy, and deeply welcoming.
From there, I developed two creative directions designed to explore different expressions of the brand. Through collaborative review and refinement, a clear direction emerged. One centered around guidance, renewal, connection, and growth. With that foundation in place, the visual system evolved into a cohesive identity designed to scale across digital and physical touchpoints while remaining unmistakably GTC.

A Logo Guiding Many Paths
The identity is rooted in a simple but powerful idea: healing is a journey, and no two paths look exactly the same. At the center of the brand is a logo icon formed from eight interlocking human figures. Each figure doubles as a directional arrow, creating a dynamic symbol that speaks to the many paths therapeutic journeys can take. Together, the forms radiate outward to create an eight-point star that serves as the visual cornerstone of the identity.
The strength of the icon lies in its layered meaning. Viewed one way, it represents individuals connected through support, care, and shared understanding. Viewed another, it becomes a compass rose-like symbol of guidance and direction. At small scale, a ship's steering wheel. Its radial structure evokes the warmth of the sun, reinforcing themes of renewal, hope, and possibility. Encased within a circular form, the icon also reflects wholeness, continuity, and emotional safety.
The custom wordmark mimics the winding and looping path to healing while providing a polished calligraphic look and feel. These work together to create a primary logo mark that feels deeply symbolic, immediately accessible, yet elevated and credible. One that reflects the many paths people take toward healing while reinforcing the role GTC plays in helping them navigate the journey ahead.

The Dawning of a New Identity
The final identity system captures the feeling of a new beginning. Inspired by the dawn of a new day, the visual language combines warmth, optimism, and clarity to create an experience that feels both calming and aspirational. Soft sunrise gradients introduce energy and movement while reinforcing themes of hope and forward momentum. Rich neutrals ground the system, creating balance and sophistication throughout the brand.
Typography plays an equally important role in shaping perception. The pairing of Gyst and Basier Circle bridges elegance and accessibility, creating a voice that feels refined without becoming distant. Together, they establish a visual rhythm that is both professional and personal.
The imagery system moves beyond conventional therapy photography to showcase authentic moments of growth, creativity, reflection, and connection. Rather than focusing solely on clinical care, the brand celebrates the many forms healing can take, from movement and self-expression to mindfulness and community.
To bring the brand to life, I extended the identity across business cards and a custom Wix Studio website experience. Every touchpoint was intentionally crafted to create consistency, build trust, and support the organization's long-term vision.

A Gasp-Worthy, Industry-Defining, Brand
Great brands change perception before a conversation ever begins. For GTC, the impact was immediate.
Shortly after launch, GTC's Founder, Gisella attended an industry networking event and introduced the newly branded practice to peers within the mental health community. As attendees encountered the identity for the first time, the response was unmistakable. According to Gisella, people audibly gasped and repeatedly asked the same question: "Who did this for you?"
The reaction validated something important. Guided Therapy Co. had successfully broken free from the visual conventions that dominate the category.
Instead of blending into a crowded landscape, the practice entered the market with a distinctive presence that felt credible, memorable, and deeply human. More importantly, the brand provided a foundation for growth.
What began as the launch of a new therapy practice emerged with the confidence, sophistication, and clarity of an organization already moving toward its future. A future built on connection, guidance, and the belief that good things truly are coming.
